			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The total surface of Benin was reported to be 112.6 thousand square kilometers in 2004 with total forest area up to 26,750.0 square kilometers. Being a country with a lower income as of the classification made by the World Bank, Benin manifests the following social and economic features.</p>
<p>The total population has come up to 8.2 million in 2004 in comparison with 7.2 million people in 2000. Accordingly, the population growth has its expression in 3.0% in 2000 and 3.2% in 2004. Though fertility rate has decreased from 6.0 births per women to 5.7. Mortality rate has also revealed its decrease showing number 95.0 in 2000 and 89.6 in 2004. </p>
<p>Economic indicators are also to be defined. Benin GNI per capita was $340.0 billion in 2000 and $450.0 billion in 2004. GDP indicator was $2.3 billion and increased to $4.1 billion within 5 years. Due to certain government measures inflation has been reduced. Its annual indicators were 3.3% and 1.4% for the years of 2000 and 2004 accordingly.  </p>
