			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Central African Republic is an inland state that borders with Sudan in the east, Democratic Republic of the Congo in the south, Cameroon in the west and Chad in the north. More than 70% of the population of the country lives in isolated areas. The population is mainly involved in marginal farming and forestry. Agriculture provides over 50% of the country’s GDP. As far as export is concerned, diamonds makes up 40% and timber – 16%. </p>
<p>The economy of CAR is based on agriculture. Its share in GDP amounts to more than 50%. It mainly produces such products as banana, coffee, cotton, tobacco, tapioca, millet, timber, yams, and corn. Tobacco, cotton, coffee and timber go for export as well. </p>
<p>Around 20% of the country’s GDP is provided by industries. The leading industries are motor cycle and bi-cycle assembling, textile manufacturing, diamond mining, gold mining, footwear manufacturing and lumbering, brewery. The country imports mainly food petroleum, items, pharmaceuticals, electrical equipment, motor vehicles, machineries and chemicals.</p>
<p>The services sector accounts for 25% of GDP.</p>
<p>The statistics show that electricity production and consumption in the year 2005 amounted to 109 million kWh and 101.4 million kWh correspondingly. Oil consumption was estimated at around 2300 billion barrels per day.</p>
<p>GDP of the country based on purchasing power parity makes up $3.007 billion, while the same figure based on the official exchange rate is calculated at $1.714 billion. GDP per capita amounts to $700. GDP growth rate is estimated at 4%.</p>
<p>Total revenue makes up $250 million, total expenditure &#8212; $273 million. Total exports are calculated at $146.7 million and total imports make up $273.3 million. The total debt of the country is estimated at $1.153 billion. The official currency is CFA franc.</p>
