In the Classification of Economies based on the region and income criteria, Angola is regarded as a Lower Income Country that is under Sub Sahara African region. This Classification was created by the World Bank in 2005.

The territory of Angola covers 1.2 millions square kilometers, as of 2004, including a forest area of 597.3 thousand square kilometers, as of 2000.

The population of the country makes up 15.5 millions, as of 2007, that is to be compared to 13.8 millions in 2000. The population growth rate amounts to 2.9 percent.

The life expectancy rate in Angola is estimated as 41.2 years, as of 2007.

In the same year, the infant mortality rate per one thousand births made up 154.0.

The Gross National Income of Angola (Atlas Method) amounted to 14.4 billions in 2004. The same figure per capita in the same year equaled 930.0.

The Gross Domestic Product was 19.5 billions in 2004.

The GDP growth rate per year reached 11.1 percent in the year 2004 compared to 42.2 percent a year earlier.
