The World Bank classified Belarus as a country of a lower middle income in 2006. The total surface area of Belarus was 207.6 thousand square kilometers in 2004, including a forest area up to 78,480 square kilometers.

The total population indicated 10.0 million people in the year of 2000 in comparison with 9.8 million in 2004. Though life expectancy increased from 68.0 to 68.4 within 5 years. Mortality rate, on the contrary, decreased from 11.0 to 8.6. The same situation we notice with fertility rate. In other words, the number was 1.3 in 2000 and 1.2 in 2004.

When analyzing economic indicators one can define GNI that of 13.8 billion in 2000 and 21.0 billion in 2004. GDP expresses 12.7 billion in the year of 2000 and 22.9 billion in the year of 2004. Annual GDP growth touched the percentage of 5.8 and 11.0 as of the year 2000 and 2004 accordingly.
