In the Classification of Economies based on the region and income criteria, Cameroon is considered to be lower income country that is under the Sub-Saharan African region. This Classification was created by the World Bank in 2006.

The territory of Cameroon covers 112.6 thousand square kilometers, as of 2004, including a forest area of 26,750.0 square kilometers, as of 2000.

The population of the country is 16.0 millions, as of 2004. The population growth rate equals to 1.8 percent.

The life expectancy rate in Cameroon is estimated as 46.0 years, as of 2004.

Fertility rate was calculated at 4.8 births per woman in 2004.

In the same year, the infant mortality rate per one thousand births made up 87.2.

As far as education issue is concerned, the rate of primary school enrollment in the year 2004 amounted to 113.9, secondary school enrollment – 43.8, and tertiary school enrollment – 5.3.

The Gross National Income of Cameroon (Atlas Method) amounted to 13.0 billions in 2004. The same figure per capita in the same year equalized 810.0.

The Gross Domestic Product was 14.4 billions in 2004.

The GDP growth rate per year attained 4.3 percent in the year 2004.

The inflation rate per year is estimated at 0.4%, as of 2004.
