Costa Rica is defined as a country with an upper middle-income country as for the year of 2005. The total surface area of Costa Rica is 51,000 square kilometers with 23,760.0 square kilometers of forest area.

In 2004 the population of Costa Rica touched the number 4.3 million and an annual percentage represented 1.8%.

According to the data of 2004 the life expectancy at birth was 78.7. The mortality rate per one thousand was 12.6 (under the age of 5).

When it comes to analyze economic indicators one can concern certain numbers such as the Gross National Income, Atlas method which was $19.0 billion. The indicator of GDP touched the number $18.5 billion and a growth rate 4.2% in 2004.
